BACK

My name is Mauro and I began my work as guide by taking groups of children around Italy for Summer Camps. The children learned about the art and history of Italy by travelling the peninsula. I think this was a great training for me as my groups were as unpredictable and crazy to deal with as children can be! After years of experience with children I have started to take adults on tours. Well, I have discovered that having a group of adults can be just as challenging! This was fun. Indeed I always had a lot of fun doing this work and I can not think that this will ever became boring since every person is different and this makes the tours different.

I love to talk and tell the story of my city (I was born and lived all my life in Rome.) I like to tell the famous stories as well as the less known facts. Tell about people and things… “gli uomini e le cose” as the Roman poet Trilussa would say. Perhaps more than any other thing I love to pass on some of the enthusiasm that I have for the almost 3.000 years of history to those many visitors that often seem to be more interested in Rome and in love with it than many people who live here.

note from Sergio: Mauro is incredible. He can tell you something about almost everything. He is an historian and understands very well even modern history, which is very helpful to understand our country today. I love and enjoy very much touring with him!

TESTIMONIALS

Now that we're home, we just had to write and tell you what a wonderful time we had during our two days with Mauro.
Our first day, we visited the Vatican and the Colosseum, and on the second day, Mauro took us by train to Ostia Antica. Mauro's knowledge of history and his enthusiasm for everything we saw were incredible. Throughout the two days, he made it a point to speak to all five of us together and to each of us individually, making sure that we were seeing the sights we wanted to see and learning about what we were looking at. He even added special little extras; for example, when we had to change trains, he took us outside the train station to show us and explain a pyramid and the city wall, sights we would normally have missed.
Mauro's love of history and his extensive travels were evident as he answered all of our questions and volunteered all kinds of information that we wouldn't even have known to ask about. His English was excellent, thanks in part to his having lived and worked in the United States. Everyone from our nine-year-old to our two teenagers to my husband and myself agreed that our time with Mauro was well spent.

Thank you sooo much for your help. We had a fabulous time with Mauro. He is incredibly knowledgeable about his Country. We learned a great deal today and we cannot wait until tomorrow. I read his information on your site weeks ago and I am happy that we have him for our tours. You have been great as well and my wife said that when she spoke to you were even more pleasant than she imagined. Once again thank you and I hope to meet you soon. ...We had a fantastic time and Mauro made these two days very special. I do not feel I have had a tour, but I feel like I met a friend in Rome. His knowledge is very impressive and he was wonderful with the kids. I will make sure I add an email to your web-site to tell everyone that if they do not use your services it is thier loss.
Truly a delight!!!! Thank you and thank him for the wonderful time. When, and I hope soon, I come back I will be sure to contact you and him to meet again.

We had a great time in your country and one of the highlights of our trip was the wonderful tour of Vatican city led by Mauro. He was excellent and we would highly recommend Mauro and Rome Made To Measure to any of our friends visiting Rome. Thank you for the excellent service. All the arrangements we made through email and the internet were perfect.

Just a few words to thank both Consuelo and Mauro for making our short stay in Rome so memorable. Not only were they both very knowledgeable and, more importantly, enthusiastic about the sights we visited together, from Caravaggio's paintings of St Matthew in the San Luigi dei Francesi to Michelangelo's frescos in the Sistine Chapel, but they indulged in a little of the gossip and experiences of living in Rome today. (Try the cappuccino and pastries at Ciampini's and treat yourself to the benefits of the 'nero d'avola' grape).
Indeed, you couldn't wish to spend a couple of days with nicer people. Consuelo - special thanks for the flowers on our anniversary, and Mauro - extra special thanks for not passing on any of your horse racing tips!
Thanks again to you all at ROME Made to Measure.
Mille grazie.

This short note is to tell how very much we enjoyed our vacation in Rome. The absolute best part was the time we spent with you learning about your wonderful city. Our three days with you Mauro were clearly the best vacation investment we have ever made. Everyone enjoyed the sights, your descriptions and discussions, your enthusiasm and your knowledge. We thought it was both very charming and very professional of you to be so friendly and informative, but mostly so enthusiastic, especially since you really do this every day. Mille Grazie. We would recommend "Rome Made to Measure" to anyone who wants the best way to see and learn about Rome.

I wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed our day with Mauro.  I think the highest compliment I can give him is that he is exactly the kind of person that I would choose to have as a personal friend.  We were so happy to discover within minutes of meeting him that he was just what we were hoping for: vastly knowledgeable, friendly, and comfortable having a real exchange with us.  His depth of knowledge on multiple subjects was really remarkable and we both learned a lot, making this day one of the highlights of our trip.

Well, our wonderful vacation is over and we arrived home Tuesday afternoon.  Just wanted to let you know that we enjoyed the afternoon tour and Mauro was very informative and, of course, pleasant.  The transfer to the port was great - right on time, wonderful driver.

Dear Sergio,
We had a wonderful tour with Mauro. He had so much insight to Rome and all of Italian history. We had a very through tour, that lasted 8 hours or so. We were exhausted, yet thrilled by the end of the day. His English (although accented, which added to his charm) was excellent. We would recommend your tour to anyone visiting Rome. Thank you very much.

Dear Sergio,
I wanted to thank you for the two wonderful days we spent with Mauro touring Rome. And, everyone loved the golf carts. I have to admit I was a little nervous in the middle of Rome with all the traffic - but everyone thought the golf carts were fun and a great idea. Mauro is so knowledgeable - we couldn't have asked for anyone that brought so much history to what we were seeing. When we come back to Rome I will look forward to working with you.
Again, thank you so much.

Hello Sergio,

We want to thank you and your tour guides so much for helping to make our trip the memorable vacation that it was.  The highlight of it was our day tours with Daniela, Mauro, and Micaela.

All 3 of them were so knowledgeable, personable, and besides learning so much, we also had fun.  My teenager as well as my mother had the best time.    We all loved the golf cart tour of the old city, aswell as the practicallity, it was a wild ride on the cobblestones, we will never forget.

Angels and Demons really came to life with our tours.  Please give our best to Mauro, Daniela, and Micaela.  They made our trip for us, and we will highly recommend your company.

Dear Sergio

Richard and Julie-Ann spent a most wonderful day with Mauro.  They learned so much and were just fascinated by everything they saw and heard - when I spoke to them in the evening they were exhausted and happy.  They thought Mauro was a wonderful person and so amazingly knowledgeable;  they also enjoyed the typically Roman restaurant he took them to for lunch!

All in all, their trip to Rome was a great success and the day spent with Mauro was the high point.  Could you please pass on their sincere thanks and best regards to him.

Many thanks to you too for all your help;  I am sure we'll be in contact with you again.

Best regards

Sergio,
I am just writing to thank you and our guide Mauro for an excellent tour on Saturday. We all really enjoyed the day. Mauro was extremely good company and very informative.

It was a long day but Mauro kept us going and please pass on our thanks and best wishes to him.

We all fell in love with Rome although we all agree that it is a great place to visit but a "Crazy place to live". The traffic was incredible and how we didn't have a crash in a taxi (when we could find one) seemed more lucky than by good driving!

Hi Segio,

Kelly and I want to thank you for arranging a wonderful tour with Mauro. We thoroughly enjoyed the day with him. He did a great job of showing us the sights and explaining the history. You can tell he really enjoys his work! If you speak with him, please thank him for the suggestion to visit Orvieto. We loved it.

Thanks again!

Mr. Caggia,

Mario was a wonderful guide and his knowledge enhanced our visit.  Mario certainly made our visit more enjoyable.

We hope to come to Rome again next spring to see the Vatican and some of the museums we missed on this trip.  Again I want to thank you and your staff.
