The
Exhibition of Christmas Cribs

The annual exhibition of Christmas Cribs organized by the Rivista delle Nazioni takes place in the Sale del Bramante by the church of Santa Maria del Popolo. The exhibition will last
from Nov 28 2002 to Jan 6 2003.
Although it is called the Exhibition of One Hundred Christmas Cribs, there will be over two hundred of them (!) from all over Italy and various parts of the world.
The Cribs are made from all kinds of materials, including clay, wood, terracotta,
porcelain, corn, bread, chocolate, paper, leather, iron, wool, and silk. Some Nativity scenes have been constructed in extremely original
sites, for example, lamps or a bottles, or even engraved on an apricot
seed!
It is interesting to observe how craftsmen and the devout from all over the world, from adults to
children, have used their imagination to represent this religious event.
There are also antique Cribs on show. Some of them date back to the 18th century.
So, all in all, the exhibition should prove fun for both adults and children!
Open every day until January 6th 2003 from 9.30am-8.30pm (Christmas, New
Year's day and Epihany included). |
