15 June 1998 Piazza Campo dei Fiori
Every morning (Monday to Saturday) a colorful fruit & vegetable market animates the Campo dei Fiori. The merchandise is displayed on old fashioned wheelbarrows.
In the early afternoon the stalls are dismantled and a great amount of garbage remains on the square's pavement. It takes a few hours for the street sweepers to sweep and wash the square!
The Campo dei Fiori was once one of the sites used for public executions. Here was burned at the stake the philosopher Giordano Bruno in 1600. His beautiful statue - here erected in his memory - dominates the square today.
