"Here on the 21st Jan. every year two lambs decked out with ribbons and flowers are blessed. They are then taken to the Pope for a further blessing before being handed over to the Benedictine nuns of Santa Cecilia in Trastevere, who make the pallia (a religious vestment) for the Pope and his Archbishops from their wool" G.Masson, Companion Guide to Rome, p.295.
