The Opening of the New Opera House of Rome

Last night, December  21st, it was inaugurated at the presence of the President of Italy Carlo Azelio Ciampi and the Major of Rome Valter Veltroni the new Opera House of Rome designed by the architect Renzo Piano.

This morning, Sunday December 22nd, the complex was open to the public and it was possible to visit the theatre, the gardens and the shopping centre with the cafe'.

The construction of the new opera house in Rome is a great  accomplishment: one outdoor theatre surrounded by three covered theatres of different sizes (the largest one sits 2700 spectators.) The complex includes libraries, museums, music studios, areas for exhibitions, cafes, restaurants, gardens and an archaeological site: an ancient  Roman Villa from the times of the Republic found by accident during the exacations of the foundations.
